Real Life Math:Cooking with Fractions
Today we cooked Apple Crisp,Yes I liked doing this because it was very fun figuring out how to double the recipe. It was very fun to do this with my friends and I learned that fractions and units of measure are very useful and very important to learn about when you are trying to figure how much you need to use if you are trying to double a recipe so it feeds more than it's supposed to feed .An example would be if you had 1/8 of a cup of Sugar and you doubled it, it would be 2/8 cups of Sugar. I also learned that by doing this instead of just visualizing it was way more effective. I also learned that simplifying is very important. It was definetly a successful experiment. It was also alot of fun and extremely messy too. But it was fun altogether. I can't wait to see what the next thing we do is!!
